Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?
We see clients virtually. Your location is wherever you have a private place and can access the Internet in Texas or Mississippi.

Clients can be seen in person in or around the Cisco or Abilene area on a case-by-case basis if we have slots available.

What is a free initial phone consultation?
This is where we discuss what you’re looking for in therapy and what you can expect in treatment.
What are your office hours?

We have irregular office hours but generally are open 9:00 am – 7:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday and periodically on weekends.

What can I expect in the first session?

You can expect to be heard and seen as the unique person you are!

In the first few sessions, we want to get to know you, your perspective on your life, and your challenges so we can tailor treatment to YOU!

What is therapy like with you?

Therapy with us is like having a cup of coffee with a close friend.

How long is each therapy session?

There are several options:

Individual or Couples/Family sessions

Insurance generally will be billed as 38–60-minute sessions.

Private Pay options are:

One hour

Two hours

Intensive Treatment (3-6 hours per day for multiple consecutive days)

Multiple-hour sessions allow us to access issues more quickly and deeply, offering faster relief. We will discuss and choose the session lengths that best fit your needs.

Group sessions:

Vary depending on group needs.

Do your clients receive homework in between sessions?

We sometimes give clients light homework to gain momentum and create lasting change. We will only assign you something as long as it complements what we are doing in sessions. Have no fear – these homework assignments are amazing and aid so much in your overall change!

Typically, for homework, clients listen to podcasts/videos about mental health, read books that link to their current experience, or tune into comedy specials on Netflix or relevant TED Talks to help them increase self-awareness. That way, in addition to the hours we spend in therapy, you are using some of the remaining 167 hours per week, taking action to create real and lasting change!

What is your educational background?

Carrie has a bachelor’s degree in applied behavioral science and a master’s in marriage and family therapy with a specialty in trauma.

What do you enjoy about being a therapist?

For Carrie, helping people gain peace, self-compassion, and confidence is her jam! She loves walking people through pain to a pathway of healing!

Do I have to lie on a couch?

The short answer is no… not unless you want to!

Since most sessions will be virtual, you’ll be in your private location and can sit almost anywhere you want as long as you and your therapist can see each other!

Cats or dogs?

Carrie loves BOTH! She used to be a dog person until she recently received a cat and fell in love with him, too!
